Calculate barbell plate with your details.
Use realistic inputs for the most useful results.
A barbell plate calculator determines which weight plates to load to reach a target weight. It subtracts bar weight, divides by two for each side, then identifies plate combinations.
Plates per Side = (Target Weight - Bar Weight) ÷ 2. Then match available plates from heaviest to lightest.
For 185 lbs on 45 lb bar: (185-45)÷2 = 70 lbs per side. Load 45+25 on each side.
Olympic plates have 50mm holes for Olympic bars; standard have 25mm holes for standard bars.
Standard 7-foot Olympic bar weighs 45 lbs (20 kg). Shorter variants may weigh 29-35 lbs.
Not recommended. 45 lb = 20.4 kg, 20 kg = 44.1 lbs. Stick to one standard.
