Pediatric BMI calculates body mass index for children and teens (2-19 years) using age and sex-specific percentiles from CDC growth charts. Unlike adult BMI categories, children's BMI is interpreted as percentiles because body composition changes during growth.
Calculate BMI (weight/height²), then plot on CDC growth charts to determine percentile for age and sex.
BMI = Weight (kg) ÷ Height (m)². Percentiles: <5th underweight, 5-85th healthy, 85-95th overweight, >95th obese.
